What is Light?

What is Light

Light is a energy that is be seen by humans eyes.

Light can pass though vacuum, air, liquid and solid.

Light travels at a faster than the sound. The speed of light is 3×10^8ms.

Light always goes in a straight line.

Light travels in the form of electromagnetic waves.

These wave create the sensation in our eyes vision.

When studied by scientists photons found carried by light

Light has a dual nature:-

 particle nature and wave nature

The wave nature of light was first illustrated through experiments on diffraction and interference.

Light shows particle nature when light travels in the form of photons.

Reflection of light

What is Light?

Reflection is the phenomenon in which light travelling from one medium is incident on the surface of another medium and returns to the first medium.

Refraction of light

What is Light?

Refraction is a phenomenon in which there is a change in the speed of light as it travels from one medium to another medium and these shows bending of the ray of light.

Dispersion of light

The splitting of white light ray into its constituent colours or in the seven colours is called dispersion.

Polarisation of light

Light travels in vibrating form in all directions which is perpendicular to the light propagation. If the light is constrained to vibrate in only one particular plane, then the light is called polarised light. Such phenomenon is known as polarisation.

Interference of light

Interference is the phenomenon where modification of the intensity of light take place because of the redistribution of light energy in the region which superposition of two or more light waves.

I hope you have understood well about what is light.
